During this socially-distant season, many people are taking the time to do the remodels and renos they’ve been putting off. In fact, Chrissy Powers, interior designer, writer, and podcaster extraordinaire, gave her bathroom a makeover using our white terrazzo tile in a fantastic and unconventional way: as a backsplash!
Terrazzo tile unfortunately ends up being put inside a creative box much of the time. Most people tend to limit this classic, pebbly style of tile to flooring, because that is far and away the most common way this tile is used. But as Chrissy Powers shows us, white terrazzo tile is an excellent choice for numerous applications around the home.
When she started planning this bathroom build, Chrissy was making the best of a difficult situation:
“When the lockdown hit in March our housebuilding project got put on hold. We had just finished the outside paneling of our home and some of the rough electrical and everything stopped. Honestly it was heartbreaking and I shed many tears.”
“However, in quarantine I got the bug to spruce up our current home so there are definite benefits of having a quarantined contractor husband. Sam actually came up with the idea that we should upgrade our current bathroom to which I jumped up and down with excitement.”
This bathroom is the perfect combination of classic design, simplicity, and comfort, and was clearly a worthwhile quarantine project.
