How much extra tile should I order?
We recommend ordering an additional 10%, but if you’re ordering a more intricate patterned tile for an area that might require many cuts, 15% isn’t out of the ordinary. For custom orders, we strongly recommend 15-20% to account for any damages during shipping or future repairs, as the lead time for ordering replacements is much longer.

How do I protect my tile from wear and tear?
Upon installation, applying a seal both before and after grouting goes an incredibly long way in keeping your new tile safe. Tiles, especially those installed on the floor, will gradually build up a patina overtime which also adds a layer of natural protection.
Cement Tile
What is cement tile?
Cement tile is a durable pressed tile composed of finely ground Portland cement and natural pigments, which are used to create intricate and hypnotic patterns.
How is cement tile made?
Cement tiles are made up of 2 or sometimes 3 different layers. The first layer contains the pigmentation and determines the color, texture, and pattern of the tile. This layer is poured carefully into a mold that gives the tile its shape. The following layer (or layers) is composed or finely ground Portland cement, giving the tile its durability. The layers are then hand-pressed by our skilled artisans to ensure that each tile is up to our high standards. The tile then rests and cures for 4 weeks before being shipped out to our customers.
Are cement tiles painted?
No. Our cement tiles are colored by handcrafted pigment mixtures that are pressed directly into the tiles. Painted tile chips or fades over time, while colors from pressed pigments only become richer and deeper as they age. The poured pigment is 1/8” thick into the surface of the tile, allowing customers the option to lightly polish the tiles to revive the bright colors and patterns.
Are cement tiles water resistant?
They sure are! Cement tile can be applied in backsplashes, bathrooms, kitchens, and even showers. They are also very easy to clean.
Do cement tiles vary in size and color?
Part of the charm of our handmade cement tiles is the natural variations inherent in each one. While each tile works with the others to create mesmerizing patterns, they contain very slight variations in size and pleasant distinctions in color that only serve to enhance the natural beauty present in each tile. Because of these variations, we urge installers to shuffle the tiles before installation to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing composition. Some irregular edges and difference in surface textures are inherent to the nature of cement tiles.
How durable are cement tiles?
The pressed composite of Portland cement and pigmentation is naturally robust, but when coupled with our curing process, the result is a tile that can survive and thrive through decades of hard use. The durability and lifespan of your tiles also depends on proper installation and maintenance. Please click here for cleaning and maintenance guidelines.
Where can cement tiles be used?
Anywhere you can imagine! We love seeing our tile applied in new and creative ways, and we’ve seen it used in entryways, patios, backsplashes, kitchen floors, bathrooms, and showers. However, we don’t recommend cement tiles outdoors in areas with frequent freezing temperatures or in pools.

Can cement tile be installed outdoors?
It absolutely can! With the right seal, cement tile is naturally weather and temperature resistant and perfectly complements any outdoor area, come rain or shine.
