A new year means new opportunities to make some big changes—one of which may be updating your home! Whether it's our new marble, unglazed or thin Zellige tile, or vertical subway tile, check out what we expect to be the significant tile trends throughout this year.
Calacatta Gold Marble
We released a couple of new tile options in December, including our Calacatta gold marble. It's a beautiful tile likely to become among the most popular of the year. One of our favorite cuts of this marble tile is the 5-inch hexagon mosaic, which creates a beautifully intricate pattern when you place it on a floor or wall. Calacatta gold marble tile is one of the world's most exclusive—it's mined from one quarry in Tuscany, and the soft lines of ochre and grey that move through the tile's white base emphasize its beautiful rarity.View this post on Instagram
Unglazed Zellige
This traditional tile is made from clay in the Fez region of Morocco. The harvested terracotta is then fired with low heat to create a distinctive, clean look that is perfect for any space. While we offer black, white, Mediterranean blue and sea green Zellige tiles, there's one that our customers may want to consider above the rest this year: unglazed natural terracotta Zellige tiles. Unglazed Zellige shows off terracotta how it's meant to be. Authentic Moroccan tiles are hand-crafted following centuries of tradition and are typically characterized by slight irregularities and imperfections between each tile. Highlight this natural look in your home with rectangular unglazed, natural terracotta Zellige tiles. Our unglazed Zellige tile also comes in four-inch squares.View this post on Instagram
In this bathroom, designer Emily Tartaglia juxtaposes our unglazed terracotta Zellige tiles at the foot of the bathtub and on the shower floor, with snow-white ones lining the shower walls. The result is full of beautifully soft textures and warm, neutral colors.View this post on Instagram
Thin Zellige
Keeping with the natural Moroccan tile trend of 2023, try our new thin Zellige tiles in natural white. In the past, we offered 2-inch by 6-inch Zellige tiles, but these are 1/2-inch thick instead of 7/8 of an inch. Half the thickness means twice the impact. For example, fitting more tiles into your backsplash gives a room even more texture and shine. If that's your vibe for this year, check out our thin snow white and natural white Zellige tiles.View this post on Instagram
Vertically Stacked Subway Tile
Subway tile is a classic, deriving its name from where it was first placed in New York City subway stations. This year, we expect a new take on a timeless style. Instead of installing subway tiles the usual way, offset horizontally, try stacking them one on top of the other. This living room by AMF Construction is completely streamlined by 2-inch-by-8-inch green cement tile. Installing these tiles one on top of the next elongates the room, drawing your eye up to the ceiling above a well-placed bar to create more of an illusion of open space than exists.View this post on Instagram
