If you're searching for an eye-catching yet elegant tile choice for your next project, you can't go wrong with Moroccan Zellige tiles. These hand-poured, hand-glazed tiles use authentic natural clay from Fez, Morocco, harvested and fired at a low temperature to create its signature cracked, pitted surface and color variation.
Because Zellige tile's traditionally irregular surface offers such variation in texture and color, it's an ideal choice for people who want something unexpected and "perfectly imperfect" but still refined and elegant. It's no wonder Zellige tile continues to trend in design circles despite being a centuries-old product of Morocco. From a dark and sultry pass-through bar and a colorful maximalist fireplace to a clean, bright kitchen and a peaceful, spa-like shower, Riad Tile customers have found many stunning applications for our dappled, textured Zellige tiles.
Here are our four favorite uses our creative customers have found for our handcrafted Moroccan Zellige tile.
Moody Pass-Through Bar

Choosing a dark Zellige tile for the walls and backsplash can bring an unexpected element of glamorous sultriness to a kitchen or bar space. Loree Beth Harris at Both Minds Design created this moody, tonal pass-through bar in the kitchen by covering the backsplash in our luxe Steel Grey 4"x4" Zellige and painting the cabinets a coordinating dusty blue color. We can't get enough of how the darker tile reflects the natural light coming in through the windows. A creamy white hanging light fixture and white marble countertops set off the dark-and-stormy vibe and bring a touch of lightness into this cozy space.
Luxe Maximalist Fireplace

In January, we profiled Josh Guzmán, owner of Kazimah Carpets, whose impeccably curated eclectic home in Kuwait can be attributed to his passion for sourcing antique and handmade rugs, furniture and decor. The centerpiece of his expansive living room—if there can be just one—is the textured, bright green tiled fireplace framed by a carved wood mantelpiece and topped off with a large mirror. Guzman chose our Sea Green 4"x4" Zellige to create a colorful focal point for the room and echo the other beautiful green tones throughout the space.
Clean White Kitchen

Bright, sunny kitchens in tones of white and ivory aren't going out of style anytime soon, and today's designers are looking for ways to put a new twist on the look. Enter Zellige tile, which brings an unexpected element of texture to even the simplest of white kitchens. Take this kitchen by @buildtxsolutions, which uses our Natural White 2"x6" Zellige to create a sleek and chic space for cooking, gathering and spending time as a family. Our Natural White is more earth-toned than our stark Snow tile, and it looks great paired with the light wood tones and muted brass touches throughout the rest of the space.
Bright, Sunny Shower

There's no better way to instantly create a fresh, luxe bathroom space than covering an entire walk-in shower in snowy white Zellige tile. The shimmering, monochromatic glazed tiles create a beautiful surface that invites the showerer to drift away on a cloud of peace and relaxation. Natural light tends to bring out the best in Zellige tile, so this stunning shower with its large window is the ideal space to use these handcrafted art pieces.
