The Rustic Magnetism of Salvage-Inspired Floors

Thil

Appearances can be deceiving — and mesmerizing — especially with the Thil collection of solid French oak floorboards. This range takes on all the characteristics of natural reclaimed flooring, yet it’s entirely new. Since the wood is partly heartwood, the planks have a multitude of perfect “imperfections” like open cracks and knots, saw marks, and oil stains — all of which contribute to its authentic artisan appearance.

Thil’s raw oak is sourced from forests in northeastern France. Once harvested, the planks are sent to Belgium, where they are individually and meticulously hand-finished.

The fully artisan-crafted Thil range is available in five rich color options. For each color, there is the opportunity to insert rusty metal plates within the distressed boards to signal signs of repair and contribute to the intriguing allure of flooring that seems to have been traversed for more than a hundred years.

How It Looks

In every way, the Thil collection looks like real salvaged floors that are more than a hundred years old. With a number of “flaws,” this flooring delivers a sense of storied allure that is nothing short of magnetic.

How Long It Lasts

As it is already authentically aged, Thil beautifully integrates the minor to moderate wear that can be expected over time — depending on foot traffic. Any wood color variation  is to be expected with regular and consistent exposure to UV rays.

Where to Use It

This versatile collection can be used in a wide variety of indoor spaces that receive anywhere from moderate to high traffic.

Why People Love It

Thil is for those who crave the drama of a beautifully distressed floor, inspired by salvaged, reclaimed wood. These planks boast many “flaws,” yet the time-worn details create an unmistakable charm.
