Have you ever tried to create a design and felt uninspired, unsure of what will flow or where to start? Sometimes, it helps to begin with a singular piece or aspect and build out from there, like starting with the colors you want to use. We love unconventional color combinations here at Riad, and today is no different. If you’re struggling to find inspiration for your next design, look no further than the exciting combination of black and pink. We’ve picked four of our favorite designs featuring bold black and soft (or striking) pink hues and will break down what we love, why they work, and how to replicate them. #1: Starting Subtle
Maybe the idea of mixing black and pink in a sophisticated space doesn’t make sense to you. This bathroom by JLV Creative is sure to spell it out. Our Nola Pink Cement Tile on the floor provides playful color and pattern, allowing the other elements to accentuate it rather than compete for attention. Every further detail is perfect and strikes a balance between sleek and whimsical. The remaining colors in the design are gold and black, both of which serve as accents to the delightful pink floor. This example combines black and pink with a delicate touch, and we think it perfectly emphasizes the unexpected possibilities of this color combination. #2: Go BoldView this post on Instagram
This look by Arrows & Bow showcases the exciting possibilities of embracing this design. Much like the previous space, this bathroom focuses on bold patterns and colors on the tiled floor. The stunning use of our Superstar Black Tile on the ground calls for a slightly softer pink on the shower walls. Arrows & Bow accomplished this expertly with our Blush 2”x6” Zellige Tiles, which offer the perfect hue to balance the black and white and bring complex texture to build off the existing patterned design. #3: Classic Meets ContemporaryView this post on Instagram
If you’re going to mix two different elements of color–light and dark–in your design, you may as well mix some other elements, too. In this stunning bathroom, Eclectic Twist uses black and pink foundations in this gorgeous bathroom to arrange a meeting between contemporary and classic styles. On the top half, our 6”x12” Norwegian Rose Marble sits behind two massive, beautiful, gilded twin mirrors, which look like they have come directly from Versailles. Black cabinets underneath a white marble countertop have a distinctly contemporary feel, and they’re surprisingly effective in grounding the almost ethereal, indulgent top half of the room. Combining these elements and colors is not an addition to a strong design. Instead, they are what makes the design so strong. #4: Back to BasicsView this post on Instagram
This last look, designed by KLH Custom Homes, is the perfect example of a clean, stable, and grounded design. The mixture of black and pink works perfectly to create a space that feels clean and contemporary but still has a lovely pattern and colorful twist. Our Nola Pink Tile is on the floor and partners with black as more than an accent. This space is further proof that the pairing can work each way. All four designs, which use black and pink as their color foundation, showcase different ways to accomplish a beautiful result. The more you play with color, the more fun you might have.View this post on Instagram
