A home is never truly a home without a kitchen; a kitchen is at its best when it has an island for guests. Today’s article looks at kitchen islands and how our tile can accentuate their presence and elevate them to a focal point of the room.

Classic Black and White

Our first look is from California designer Audrey Crisp Interiors. She designed this eye-popping black and white island with our Zanzibar Black Cement Tile

We love how our Zanzibar tile marries the white and black aspects of the room. While the kitchen is primarily white, the black of the oven, faucet, and lighting fixtures partner with our tile to create a cohesive space. The wooden bar chairs add a warm, natural element to soften the black and white of the area, culminating in an expert design.

Colorful Focal Point

Another great look is this tiled island put together by Taylor Smith Construction.

You can use our Maya Blue cement tile to create varying degrees of complex patterns and designs. From a simple chevron pattern to the maze-like effect of Taylor Smith’s above design, these cement tiles work together in many exciting ways.

The maze the white lines create on our Maya tile mesmerizes the eye as you try to follow a path from start to finish. This movement draws attention, and the warmth of the wood flooring and cabinets is grounding for balance.

Southwestern Color and Charm

Next is this tiled island by Mrs. Measom, who used two of our tiles in her kitchen remodel for an enchanting effect.

This room uses our beautiful Havana Grey cement tiles under the island to enhance the warm tones of the cowhide rug and russet bar stools with a soft, muted pattern.

Behind the island are our Snow White Zellige Hex tiles. Each tile will always have a slightly different color because of its handmade nature, which, combined with the glaze, creates a beautiful and dynamic backsplash. The textures and patterns in this space from our Zellige and Cement tiles add depth to this comforting, chic space.

Bold and Beautiful

Timber Trails designed and built this gorgeous island using our Erizo Black cement tiles to up the ante of design. Rather than taking a lighter and whiter approach as many modern kitchens do, Timber Trails designed this around the sleek black lines of cabinetry and chairs. The countertops nearly cut the room into a black half and white half, but the island combines the two colors into one location. It's a fantastic example of how these tiles can pull colors and motifs together into one place.

Retro, Rustic, and Chic

Our last kitchen island for today is by Chayce and Hannah at Blank Slate. They brought a little retro touch to a rustic home and did an incredible job with it. Our Estrella Black cement tiles balance the warmth of the exposed wood beams, floor, and shelves to create a space of style equilibrium.

We love seeing all the different ways you use our tiles in stylish spaces like the ones above. Tag our tiles in your projects; we may highlight your work in upcoming blogs. You can also order samples from our website. Check our blog or scroll through our Instagram at @riadtile.
