3 Checkerboard Mosaic, Casablanca Carrara & Bardiglio Gray (2)[1]
Tile flooring is one of the material's most classic applications. With so many different patterns, textures, and finishes available these days, choosing the best tile floor for a space can be a process. Fortunately, that process is also filled with plenty of inspiration from designers who know that tile floors can transform a room entirely — all on their own.

The Stone Sets the Tone

One of our favorite things about a stunning tile floor is its ability to set the tone in a space. Could any solid floor be functional? Yes. But would just any floor help convey the right mood? We think not.

This sunroom transformation that @nikandliv.diy recently completed is the perfect example to showcase the power of choosing the right tile. The original dark and uneven flooring did not convey comfort, ease, or relaxation — all key words if you plan to install a home spa space. The updated floor with a timeless diamond pattern using Riad's Casablanca and Bardiglio Grey 12"x12" Carrara Marble is instantly more peaceful. We love that it's interesting without being distracting.

Bold is Back

Just like a classic diamond checkerboard can be the perfect tile floor for a home spa, something a bit more dramatic might be just what a bathroom renovation needs. Using a patterned tile gives you the option to create a classic, streamlined look or mix it up a bit for a whimsical result.

When her basement flooded and bathroom renos had to start all over again, @tanahallows didn't pass up the chance to make every design decision count. The pattern she created with Riad's Maya White & Black tile is the pop of excitement this basement space needs. Choosing the ceramic tile rather than the cement version this time around will also make maintenance and cleaning a breeze.

An Exciting Neutral

While you can certainly choose tile flooring that's the center of attention, we're just as inspired by design choices that incorporate subtle patterns on the floor to complement bold fixtures in the rest of the room.

The standout Zellige tile surrounding the bath is clearly the star of the show, but we love that @morrisseyhome didn't shy away from an intriguing tile for the floor, too. Riad's Terrazzo Terra 12"x12" tile adds a neutral color with just the right amount of depth to the space.

Showcasing Simplicity

The best tile floor to use in a multi-purpose space might be the simplest one. Rather than trying to mix and match patterns and materials, choosing a clean and streamlined look will help showcase the room's design.

We love that @yourlifeiswhatyoumakeit chose to incorporate a simple and beautiful tile floor throughout her recent remodel. The clean lines and neutral color of Riad's Solid White Hex give the room's foundation a grounded feel. This solid tile is easy to work with and doesn't stain easily, so we're happy to see the extra flair that dark grout adds between these white tiles.

Light and Airy Glam

One of our favorite tile floor ideas is showcased in this beautiful bathroom from @ls.design_studio.

The floors reflect a commitment to timeless glamour, but they don't detract from the modern fixture and design choices. With the amount of natural light in this space, the light and dark combination on the floor mimics the shadows and sunshine moving throughout the day. The whole room has a light and airy feeling, something you don't always get with a checkerboard floor. Riad's Casablanca and Bardiglio Grey 12"x12" Carrara Marble shines in this picture-perfect space. We love all the different ways that tile flooring inspires a space's look, feel, and flow.
